Who is The Shutter Munk?
Hey there, I’m Alvin—a researcher, traveler, hiker, and now, finally, a photographer.
For years, friends and fellow travelers have enlisted me to take their photos, always saying my shots were better than anyone else’s. But for the longest time, I couldn’t even afford a camera of my own. Back in college, as a journalism student, I took photography classes and fell in love with the art. Cameras were expensive, so I relied on school rentals, never truly owning my gear. Fast forward to today—now a professor, I finally decided to invest in my craft and take this passion seriously.
That’s how The Shutter Munk was born—a quirky play on my name and a reflection of my love for adventure, travel, and capturing the world through my lens.
